Hello Parents, I am sending my weekly email for next week today since I will be busy with parent teacher conferences after school on Monday. Thank you to those parents who have signed up to meet with me. I look forward to talking with you about your students. Calendar: October 14 – 15: Early out @ 12:45 pm, Parent Teacher Conferences, and Book Fair October 16: Teacher Comp Day, No School October 17 – 18: Fall Break, No School October 28: Literacy Night, 6:00 – 7:30 pm October 31: Early out @ 12:45 pm, Halloween Parade @ 8:15 am, Class Parties Literacy: This week we will be giving the Unit 1 Assessment to assess what we have learned throughout Unit 1 and what still needs to be taught. There will be no spelling words, spelling homework, or reading log this week since it is a short week, but please continue to read with your student each night for 20 minutes. Please try to have your student do 15-20 minutes of Imagine Learning at home each week. You can download the app on an iPad/tablet or access it on an internet browser. Math: We are starting Chapter 3: Addition Strategies to 20 this week. Homework is sent home daily with students. I have decided that starting with Chapter 3, I will no longer be entering homework grades into the grade book on Aspire. I have been scoring them based off if they are turning it or not and I feel that the more important grades and scores should be based off the work that is done in the classroom. I would still like the homework to be turned in, but I will not be grading homework anymore. Please also try to have your student do 15-20 minutes of iReady at home each week. Monday: Chapter 3 Pretest Tuesday: Lesson 1: Count On 1, 2, or 3 Homeroom: We will not have homeroom time at the end of the day this week since both Monday and Tuesday are early out days due to parent teacher conferences. My class captain emailed all homeroom parents the Sign Up for the Halloween party a few days ago. Please take a look at that and sign up for what you can. The students love seeing their parents come in and help in the classroom and class parties are one of their favorite things. It is also a great way to get volunteer hours. Our class parties are not successful without the help of wonderful parents. Thank you for your support in your child’s education. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you or any questions I can answer. I look forward to talking to each of you at parent teacher conferences. I hope you all have a great fall break after Parent Teacher Conferences.
